Cyberskaters is the capstone film made in my senior year of college. As a team of 10 we were tasked with making a 3 minute short film throughout our final year of school. It is a video game inspired film where two rivals are forced to team up in a roller derby race on inline skates. The film follows the two polar opposite rivals as they learn to work together during the race. The film is in a low poly style with toon shaders to reflect an early 2000s video game aesthetic.

For this project I worked on some concepts, prop models, character models, accessory models/costuming, uving/texturing, and lighting. The characters that I have worked on the models for are Seven, one of the two main characters, and the Funky Monkey NPC team. The monkeys are the same model but with different colors for the texturing. I was not responsible for the base body model of the monkeys aside from a few modifications to correct the topology and add more edge loops. I did all the textures for Seven, both monkeys, as well as several props, including developing a hologram texture within maya that could be applied to all the holograms throughout the stadium including the overhead rings and large holographic props around the track. I was also the lead lighting artist and created the base environment light setup and a lighting guide for other members of the team to follow while working on lighting. I also did half of the shot lighting for the film myself, working with the director to make sure it fit the look development and the characters stayed well lit in the environment. The shot lighting process also included adjusting a rim light setting on the toon shaders and adding a camera based toon outline for each character in the shot. I also worked with the animators and provided feedback on how to make the movement of the characters as they were skating more believable, as I have been skating for most of my life and understand the physics and mechanics of different movements and the weight and balance of movements.
